What I'll Miss About America

If you didn't already know it — and why would you? — we're calling time on our American experience pretty soon. And that's given me pause to reflect on the things I'll miss about the US when we're gone.

At the top of the list is convenience. It's the American way of life. In fact, I heard it said that the only thing Americans fear is inconvenience, so here you can get pretty much whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. 24-hour shopping, stores as big as warehouses, TV and movies on demand on Netflix and Hulu, drive-thru ATMs, drive-thru everything, you name it, they've got it.

But I'll also miss college basketball (#GoDuke), cheap gas, cheap rent, cheap clothes, cheap movies, burritos at Chipotle, milkshakes at Goodberry's, dinners at Ted's Montana Grill, lunches at Sawasdee Thai, brunches at La Farm, talking on the phone while driving, traveling to new places, plus all those delightfully ignorant Americanos who think Australia is a part of Europe.

I shall add squirrels to the list.

Another addition to the list: right on red.

Lachos... sounds like you will miss a lot of the "cheap" things... the USA is so much cheaper than Aus... and your list didn't even include property prices. Why is it so?

It will take some adjustment when you get back...

You're dead right mate. Property prices are a killer in Sydney. And I don't think I'll ever get used to that!
